Fashion Blogger: Styled By Kalack

Canadian stylist Kike, has a great fashion blog, “Styled By Kalack” and she featured some LightInTheBox accessories in her post! Her photos are absolutely gorgeous! The purse, earrings and necklace are all from LightInTheBox.com.

She loves “recycling” clothes, wearing a dress as a skirt, a dress as a blouse! Using clothes in unique ways, is budget friendly and a super clever way to get the most out of your wardrobe. Guess which is which in this outfit she has put together?

The colors she has chosen are bright and perfect for any summer evening. Here are some of her BEAUTIFUL photos! To see the entire post go here.

Save Some $$$ With DIY Projects!

Holiday season is long over and your wallets are probably feeling a lot lighter after all the shopping :( Here are some projects you can complete around the house to save some shopping trips AND $$$!

iPad/Laptop Stand

Now THIS is a cool idea.  Not only can you save tons of money on a fancy stand, you can have a customized case that looks and seems a lot more comfortable to use!

Materials:

  • 1/2 yard of fabric
  • fabric scraps for the flower
  • self covered button
  • polyfill
  • a stone or weight
  • cardboard

Embossed Wallet

A nice twist from those boring plain leather wallets.  Plus, I guess if you’re bored on the bus one day, you can “doodle” on your wallet to pass some time!

Materials:

  • Small candy tins, such as Altoids tins, emptied and cleaned
  • Aluminum foil tape
  • Scissors
  • Plastic spoon
  • X-Acto knife
  • Self-healing cutting board
  • Pencil
  • Empty ballpoint pen (optional)
  • Sharpie markers in assorted colors (optional)
  • Cardstock (optional)

Egg Art

Ok, so this project is for kids, but I would totally have fun with this.  After you create the paint-filled eggs, you can toss them at anything (hopefully just a canvas) to create your own version of splatter art!

Materials:

  • Egg shells with a small opening at the top (washed and dried)
  • Egg shell halves
  • Washable paint or sidewalk paint
  • Strong glue (hot glue gun is best)

Crated Furniture

I feel like with crates, you can hold a lot more things rather than buying a whole set of chest drawers…

Materials:

  • Top MDF Board (approx 40cm wide, 140cm long, 2cm thick)
  • Back board, plywood or MDF (approx 140cm long, 60cm wide)
  • Some wood to construct a bottom frame
  • 8 crates (i´d also try to create the drawer functionality by making an
  • interior frame structure and adding sliding rails, that the crates could lean on (and be pulled out from).
  • 4 fun furniture legs (perhaps chopped off from an old piece)

Ideal Birthday Cake

Perfect 2-in-1: cake AND present.  Also, as a cake, everyone will have something they like!

Materials:

  • Empty 2 liter bottle (with the top cut off so it sits flat)
  • 8 soda cans of your choice
  • 12-14 mini candy bars of your choice
  • wide ribbon for the cake
  • thin ribbon for the top
  • candle
  • cake plate
  • tape

Crazy Cell Phone Accessories

One of my favorite things to do is look up crazy gadgets, and wonder, “who in the world would actually purchase these these gadgets??”  Besides that, there seems to be some new cell phone coming out every week, so why not pair the two and look up some crazy cell phone gadgets?  Here are some crazy gadgets I’ve found:

Telephone Handset for Cell Phones

Seriously??  I thought we moved from corded handsets to cell phones for a reason!  I suppose for those who have used both types for long periods of time, it’s a good way to mix the two.  Bluetooth, anyone??

iPhone Windshield Wiper

I suppose have a windshield wiper on your phone would be useful on rainy and snowy days.  However, is it really that useful??  I think it would take infinitely less time wiping away the screen with your hands rather than an extra gadget.  Touch gloves, anyone?

Helmet With Speaker

I can imagine this gadget has a smaller market audience.  That’s what big headphones are for, right?  I can also imagine how weird it would be to walk around with helmet (unless you’re a klutz) bobbing along to your tunes…

Cell Phone Holster

Like the helmet, this cell phone holster would have a smaller market audience.  This holster eerily reminds me of the dreaded fanny packs tourists wore around their waists while on vacation.  On the plus side, this holster can ward away thieves!

Cell Phone Grass Charger

I suppose this grassy charger will be useful for several types of cell phones at once!  Hopefully who ever uses this gadget will not gravitate towards dropping their cell phones in the grass for charging!

Bacon & Egg iPhone Case

Now this iPhone case is just plain evil!  For hungry people, that is!  As a big foodie myself, I would not be following my New Year’s resolution with this case staring at me 24/7!

Cool Gadgets of the Week!

So we all know that MiniInTheBox has a HUGE assortment of gadgets, but it’s pretty difficult to find the certain unique gadget that would make an awesome gift for yourself or family and friends. Therefore, I’ve compiled a list of unique and lesser-seen gadgets in the MITB store! This guide may also help give you a kick-start on Holiday gifts!

Nose Shower Dispenser:

At first glance, this shower dispenser looks very unsanitary, but why not liven up your shower experience (for those who hate to shower) with a NOSE dispenser??

iPad monitor touch gloves:

We know you have a perfectly good pair of hands that can use the iPad directly, but wearing these gloves would be pretty neat, making you feel like you’re in a sci-fi flick!

Balloon LED Lights:

Hard to find colorful light bulbs, might as well use these awesome LED lights where colors can change based on the balloon colors!

Skull Rhinestone Ring:

You can jazz up your outfit with this shiny ring, and it’s perfect for both brave men AND women.

LED Wrist Watches:

The future of all watches! Easy to read and you won’t have to be digging around in your purses/pockets in order to check the time.

Santa Claus Outfit for Dogs:

Ok, I’m not the biggest fan of dressing up pets, in fact, I think it’s rather pointless. HOWEVER, you gotta admit that this simple Santa Claus outfit is quite cute for dogs :)

Robot Dog Wire Organizer:

For all you people whose rooms are cluttered with piles of wire (but you really need them there,) organize the wires with a cool robot dog wire organizer!

Red Rose Panties:

It’s never too early to shop for Valentine’s Day gifts, or those “just because” gifts. Treat someone (or yourself) to sexy lingerie encased in a beautiful rose.

12-set Nail Polish:

It can be a pain having to hunt down specific colors in more than one area. This set is perfect for a ladies’ night!

Skull and Cross-bones 3D Glasses:

Freak your friends out with these awesome 3D glasses. Not only do they give the skull and cross-bones illusion, the colors change as well!

We know there are a lot more gadgets out there, even I don’t know the whole store.  What’s the most unique gadget YOU’VE purchased?

Wedding Wednesday: Bridal Headpieces

Most brides spend a lot of time thinking about their dress – the cut, style, if it will be pure white or cream – the list goes on and on. But another choice, one that is arguably just as important, is what you will wear on your head.

First – veil or no veil?

If you picked veil:

Pick your veil based on the look of your dress:

Longer veils are better suited to floor-length gowns or gowns with a train. Conversely, shorter dresses look better with shorter veils. If your dress has a high neck or is a more eclectic style, a very short visor veil is a good option.

The most popular veil length is the fingertip length which goes down to (you guessed it!) your fingertips.

If you said no veil:

Many modern brides are choosing head adornments other than the traditional veil. Some wear elaborate headbands, tiaras, or pins, while others simply leave their heads bare.

Brides with long faces look better with headbands or decorative flowers pinned on the side. Brides with rounder faces are more suited to tiaras or bridal hats pinned near the top.

~~~
Whether you choose to wear a veil or a different type of head-wear, make sure it doesn’t take away from an intricately designed dress. But if your dress is simpler, your head-wear can be more elaborate!
Wedding Wednesday: A Colorful Bride
There’s no argument—a bride should be the center of attention on her wedding day. This is usually achieved by being the only person at the ceremony who is wearing a bright white dress, but lots of modern brides are choosing to stand out in a different way. With a pop of color! In this week’s post you’ll see some fantastic options for colorful brides.
These days, brides (and grooms!) are incorporating their creativity into their weddings in lots of different ways—DIY décor, fun photo booths, wacky socks or neckties, funky shoes or bright jewelry. Wearing items with a pop of color allows a bride to showcase her sense of style and get creative on her big day.
Wearing a wedding gown that’s in color is a daring choice; if you’re not fully committed to donning a colored dress, no need to worry! Try starting small; colorful wedding wraps, jewelry, shoes or handbags are all fabulous choices. With all the amazing options out there these days, you’ll have no problem finding the right colorful accessory for you!
Fashion Friday: Look Of The Day!
Happy Friday, my fellow fashionistas! If you’re in the market for a cute & trendy summer outfit, then you’re in luck! In this week’s post you’ll see my choices for the look of the day––the perfect ensemble to rock all summer long!
Whether your summer will be spent on vacation or at the office, this look can definitely be adapted to fit the occasion! To see more fabulous and fashionable items, visit our LightInTheBox Fashion Collection.
1) This adorable orange mini dress is right on trend with the decorative detail on the shoulders. The short hemline is balanced by the high, rounded neckline and cap sleeves—which makes it perfect to wear on vacation or at work. Pair this bright dress with some neutral accessories for an up-to-date look!
2) No summer ensemble would be complete without a fantastic pair of sunnies, and these retro inspired sunglasses don’t disappoint! This tortoise shell style goes perfectly with a solid colored dress, and there are 4 other shades to choose from.
3) Every girl needs a neutral colored purse, and this chain shoulder bag in camel doesn’t disappoint! The chain straps are very ‘in’ right now and its gold fixtures go perfectly with this ensemble.
4) Neutral accessories are great, but pairing such a bright dress with another bold, solid color is so exciting! These chunky heel sandals in deep turquoise add some much needed flair to this otherwise too-boring outfit!
5) Gold is the hottest metal for this summer, and orange and gold look fabulous next to each other! Adding a thick gold bangle really draws everything in this outfit together.
6) These jade & rhinestone earrings are the perfect toppers to this orange/gold/turquoise ensemble! The jade color mimics the dark turquoise in the shoes and the gold setting & rhinestones draw the eye upward.
Wedding Wednesday: A Pop of Color
One of the fastest growing trends in the bridal community is quite a colorful one! Brides have found themselves bored with the usual white or ivory colored wedding gowns and are seeking more youthful looks for themselves. This week’s post will show off some great choices for the bride who wants to add a pop of color to her life!
If you’re not comfortable with an entire gown in a non-traditional hue, there are several other ways you can add some color to your wedding day ensemble! The next step down would be to rock a dress with colored inserts or embroidery, but you could also opt for a colored sash or embellishments. But even if you choose to wear a simple dress, you can still spice up your outfit with colorful accessories! The possibilities are endless—you could choose funky-hued shoes, a bright handbag or vibrant jewelry. You could even try multicolored fingernails!
Here you’ll find some of my favorite colorful choices, but you can check out our LightInTheBox Weddings & Events collection for more inspiration!
