Make Your Life Easier…With DIY Projects!

Here’s another round of DIY projects!  Reusing your old cuff links to delicious baked goods, you can survive the apocalypse with these projects alone!  Okay, not really :(

Hot Cocoa Popsicles

Ingredients (makes 6):

  • 1 3/4 cups (415 ml) whole or 2% milk
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder

Wine Bottle Covers

Perfect for gift-giving occasions…especially when you’ve forgotten to buy the last material…wine covers!
old unwanted men’s shirt

How-to: Cut the sleeves about 2 inches more than the size of the bottle. Keeping the cuff of the sleeve above, turn & sleeve inside out & stitch the sleeve at the bottom. Turn it upside down & its ready to use.  Style it up with some earrings instead of cuff-link!

Okay, I admit that wands would not be super useful in an apocalypse, but they DO look pretty awesome and realistic!
Supplies: hot glue, chopsticks, beads, acrylic paint (different shades of brown)

Pumpkin Spiced Latte

One thing that I miss from working abroad are Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Lattes.  There are plenty of Starbucks here, but not that drink :(
coffee & pumpkin milk

Pumpkin milk:

  • 1 c milk (I used almond milk but use any kind you want from half and half to rice milk)
  • 1/4 heaping cup pumpkin puree (more if you really love pumpkin)
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice blend, or to taste
  • 1 tsp cinnamon, or to taste
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  •  sweetener of choice, to taste (I suggest 2 tbsp agave or 2 tbsp brown sugar or a pinch of stevia to taste; or try honey, maple syrup, etc. to taste)

Optional: pinch of ground nutmeg, ginger, garam masala, cardamom, or other warming spices to taste

How-to: Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and whisk well by hand or blend all ingredients using a Vita or blender

Quite an evil plan, if you think about it: receiving a postcard in the mail with a cake attached, then finding out that it is literally sponge cake.

  • X-Acto or utility knife
  • Spray paint (brown, yellow, pink or white)
