LITB Labs – Wireless USB Multi-Touch Mouse

This week in the LITB Lab we’re test driving a simple but elegant product that helps clear that clutter on your desktop and makes your computer use that little bit more comfortable. The Wireless USB Multi-Touch Mouse has a sleek design which would be described as “ergonomic” in marketing spiel but boils down to “very cool looking” in the parlance of normal people.

The tiny “Plug-and-Forget” USB nano-receiver protrudes just 5mm from whichever USB socket you slot it into and provides you with a wireless range of up to 10 meters which can come in handy, especially when using a projector for a presentation or for playing the latest DVD. The mouse is powered by just two AAA batteries which last for several months due to the automatic power-saving sleep mode which is activated when you’re not using the mouse. There is also a low-battery indicator light so you’re never caught out at an important time.

The feel of the mouse in action is more or less the same as an ordinary mouse but without the nagging hindrance of a wire which is liberating if you’ve ever wrestled with a mouse wire caught up in a heavy clump of cables that are continually dragging your mouse of the back of your desk. However, instead of having a scrolling wheel, the scroll is touch operated (much like scrolling on a touchscreen phone) so the sensor can detect when you want to scroll faster and further.

One of the great uses for this product is to accompany a laptop when travelling. No more fiddling with tricky touch pads on irritatingly bumpy transport. The Wireless USB Multi-Touch Mouse is so light (sensor and mouse combined weigh just 58g) and easily portable that it will slot comfortably into most laptop cases and, furthermore, won’t eat away at your laptop’s power.

All in all a great product genuinely without a downside. At just $26.99, the Wireless USB Multi-Touch Mouse is a bargain not to be missed.
